The government has decided to pay Rs 36 for a unit of electricity produced by power generators at non-state bodies.
This decision was taken during a meeting held between officials of the Power and Energy Ministry, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and President Maithripala Sirisena.
Meanwhile, the President has instructed all government bodies including ministries to utilise their electricity generators until the power crisis is resolved completely.
Further, a decision has been taken to refrain from interrupting power supply in the areas surrounding the Colombo Municipal Council since the area has been able to save 50MW of electricity over the last few days.
