The grace period for buses to switch to a Government approved playlist of songs expired yesterday (15). Accordingly, the National Transport Commission (NTC) says action will be taken against buses found to be playing CDs and DVDs containing other songs or visuals.
The playlist however is not mandatory. Bus drivers still have the option of having the radio on inside the bus, provided it is at low volume and within prescribed decibel limits.
The NTC has introduced a hotline - 1955 for members of the public to complain regarding loud music in buses or any other issues such as reckless driving and overcharging of passengers
