A groom-to-be drowned after he slipped and fell into the 'Sera Ella' waterfall along with his bride-to-be while taking part in a wedding preshoot.
The bride-to-be was rescued but the groom-to-be was swept away and drowned. Navy divers had to be called in to recover his body.
The incident had occurred on Monday evening. Police said the victim was a 27-year-old resident of Kurunegala. The couple, who had been scheduled to marry in July, and their photographers had earlier done a preshoot at Riverston in Laggala before making their way to 'Sera Ella' in Ilukkumbura which is 12 kilometres away from Riverston.
According to police, the couple were taking part in the preshoot when they slipped and fell into the waterfall.
