A group of 10 passengers who were being taken from the Bandaranaike International Airport to the Batticaloa quarantine centre were diverted to the Dambulla Base Hospital last evening after two women among the group fell ill.
The group, comprised of two families and which also included several children, were diverted to the Dambulla hospital when the two women started vomiting on route to the centre.
The group were initially put into ambulances and taken to the Kandy Hospital but were sent back to the Dambulla Hospital after it was found that they were not suffering from any infectious disease.
Staff at the Dambulla Hospital set aside a special area for the passengers and provided them with all facilities including food and drink. The passengers were picked up from the hospital and taken to the Batticaloa quarantine centre this morning (11).
