Hashish amounting to Rs.160 million seized

A stock of Hashish with a street value of 160 million rupees have been taken into custody by the Special Investigations Division of the Excise Department. The stock, amounting to about 11 kilograms, were seized in a raid conducted in the Rajagiriya area. Two suspects, including a woman have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. 

Officers also seized a car used to transport the drugs along with a large amount of cash which were found from the suspects' possession. 

The Excise Department stated that the Hashish had been produced in Nepal, before being smuggled overland to India and then via sea to Sri Lanka. It had been brought ashore in the Kalpitiya area, it was further stated.
