The Meteorological Department has predicted showers between 150 - 200mm in the Northern Province today (Dec 6).
This weather condition is likely to be experienced in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts, today's weather forecast read.
Further, heavy showers between 100 and 150mm could be experienced in the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Nuwara-Eliya, Badulla and Monaragala districts.
More than 30,000 individuals have been affected due to the inclement weather influenced by the North-East monsoon, Disaster Management Centre (DMC) statistics show.
More than 600 families have been sheltered at some 30 state-run relief centres, the DMC said.
