The general public has been advised to take extreme precaution due to rain and windy conditions which are expeced to enhance across the country from June 7 to June 9, the Meterology Department said.
Very heavy falls between 150-200 mm can be expected in Kaluthara, Ratnapura, Galle, Matara and Kegalle districts, the Department said in a red warning issued to the public.
Meanwhile, heavy falls between 100-150 mm can be expected at some places particularly in Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Hambantota and Mannar districts, the Department further said.
According to the Meteorological Department, this weather situation is expected to prevail especially in the South-western region of the country owing to the South-west monsoon.
