A heroin dealer was arrested with heroin worth Rs 2 million yesterday (Jan 13) by the Peheliyagoda District Organised Crimes Prevention Unit.
The suspect is alleged to have been involved in the drug trade by supplying heroin among the Ragama, Wattala, Kandana areas and its suburbs.
Police said that the suspect was arrested following a long search mission.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect who had obtained heroin from a prison inmate linked to the drug trade, had confessed to not knowing the identity of his supplier.
The arrest was made following a tip-off being received by the OIC of the Peheliyagoda District Organised Crimes Prevention Unit, Prasad Ratnayake.
A team of police officials are conducting further investigations under the directive of the Colombo North Acting DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon.
