The Health Ministry is planning to introduce a 'Home Dialysis Treatment' system from next month onwards, Health Minister (Dr) Rajitha Senaratne told Times Online.
The project would be carried out at a cost of Rs 500 million with the average allocation for patients suffering from kidney diseases standing at Rs 103,000 each.
According to this system, patients requiring dialysis treatment will be able to reach a special hotline which will be launched in line with this project, the Minister said.
He explained that the dialysis machine would be installed at the residence of the patient when required. The nearest state hospital will then monitor the progress of the treatment, Mr. Senaratne added.
