Hospitals could face a shortage of life saving drugs if the proposal to purchase new batch of drugs is not tabled before cabinet this week, State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) Mohamed Rumie said.
He noted that a proposal to purchase drugs worth Rs 600 million has been put on hold since a cabinet meeting was not held last week.
Accordingly, hospitals will face a shortage of drugs if the cabinet meeting is not held this week, Mr. Rumie added.
The pharmaceutical body's Chairman explained that the SPC submits cabinet proposals to purchase batches of drugs which are worth more than Rs 250 million.
