Sajith Premadasa, addressing UNP protesters gathered at Libery roundabout said the UNP is ready to face any threat to protect the country.
"Like my father, I came here prepared to face bullets and bombs. We will protect this country" Mr. Premadasa was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Rajitha Senaratne addressing the rally has claimed that the diplomatic community has said that they will not accept the new government.
It is reported that atleast 15,000 people have gathered to pledge their support to the UNP.
