The identification parade (ID) of the ninth suspect involved in the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr was cancelled by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's court yesterday (Aug 20).
Lawyers appearing for the accused had requested court to cancel the ID parade since the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had not submitted a progress report to court over the case.
Senior Councel Ravi Mathugama appearing for the accused requested court to grant bail for the ninth suspect as the other eight suspects too had been granted bail over the incident.
However, State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama countered the argument and opposed granting bail to the suspect.
Accordingly, the magistrate announced that the order on granting bail to the accused would be issued when the case is taken up for further hearing on August 23.
