Immigration officials are currently (as at 12 noon on Friday) said to be in talks with authorities concerning the strike action by its Colombo airport staff that has delayed passengers in being checked-in.
The 14 immigration counters available in both the departure and arrivals sections have been staffed with only four officials (two in each of the sections), airport sources said.
It was noted that there was currently a one-and-a-half hour delay in the checking of passengers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
However, this situation has not affected flights from taking off on schedule and SriLankan Airlines has already informed its passengers to arrive at the airport three hours in advance in order to avoid delays due to the strike action. (SD)
