The 'Bak Maha Divuruma' oath-taking ceremony took place at Independence Square under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning.
The ceremony was attended by religious leaders representing all faiths, parliamentarians, Governors, Chief Ministers, and school students.
During the event, the audience undertook a pledge to act against narcotics and take measures to eradicate this menace from the country.

The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
