The National Conference on Peace, Harmony and Coexistence, organised by the Western Province Governor’s office was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre yesterday (Jul 30).
President Maithripala Sirisena attended the event as the Chief Guest while Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe graced the occassion as the Guest of Honour.
Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Alissa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, attended the conference as a Special Guest.
The conference had been organized to promote interfaith values of peace, harmony and co-existence and to convey the message to the world that people of Sri Lanka live in harmony and reject all forms of extremism, the Governor's office stated.
