In Pictures : New Year celebrations in Aranayake and Nuwara Eliya
The following images captured by our correspondents depict the changing moods experienced during the New Year season.
Displaced families of the Aranayake landslide tragedy nearly a year on still languish in tents. However, religious New Year observances were still carried out as these images show the traditional annointing of oil.
Meanwhile in Nuwara Eliya, while last year saw a crowded season this year was the opposite with many shops and usually busy areas looking similar to a ghost town.
