An extremely rare Black Leopard was rescued by wildlife officers after being found caught in a snare set by poachers at an estate in Nallanthanniya today.
The leopard was found after estate workers notified the local wildlife office after hearing the leopard's cries. The animal had visible injuries after being caught in the snare and had to be tranquilized so that it could be rescued.
The leopard was eventually rescued and is still being treated for its injuries.
