An organization called 'Women for Rights' held a protest opposite the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment in Battaramulla today (29) condemning the alleged attack on Sri Lankan migrant workers by Jordanian police. The protesters also blasted the what they called the lethargic attitude of the Sri Lankan government in raising issue over the matter, and bringing back migrant workers who have been stranded in the Middle East owing to COVID-19.
The protesters demanded that urgent action be taken to bring the stranded workers back to the country.
