India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has pledged to provide USD 50 million for the purchase of equipment for the Sri Lankan armed forces.
Mr Doval made the assurance when he met Presdent Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning (18) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The assurance to provide funds to purchase equipment was made as part of efforts to improve defence cooperation, the President's Office stated.
