Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during a meeting in Colombo yesterday.
The visit of the IAF chief would provide impetus towards increasing defence co-operation between the two air forces and pave the way for greater interaction in the future, a Defence ministry statement said. This would also strengthen relationships, enable engagement in productive exchanges and promote understanding of joint issues and challenges, it added.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
