Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who led an Indian delegation was welcomed in the country yesterday to attend the two-day Indian Ocean Conference.
According to reports the conference will be held today and tomorrow at Temple Trees, with the participation of representatives from nearly 35 countries. Swaraj will address the inaugural session of the conference.
The Indian Ocean Conference 2017 is an initiative of the India Foundation to bring together countries in the Indian Ocean region for Peace, Progress & Prosperity.
During the visit, Swaraj will be calling on the President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Statesman quoting a statement from the External Affairs Ministry said.
