Indian Goverment should act tough on Lanka: Vasan

News

The Indian Government should act tough and put an end to the attacks and arrest of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, Indian Tamil Manila Congress leader G. K. Vasan has said. Speaking to presspersons in Karuppur village in India on Tuesday evening, Vasan condemned the arrest of Tamil fishermen of Jegadapattinam in Pudukottai district on Monday on charges of violating the International Maritime Boundary Line. The Sri Lankan Navy is taking advantage of the silence of the Indian Government Ministry and is harassing the Tamil Nadu fishermen in the mid-sea. The Centre should act in a tough way so that there is a proper agreement between both the countries on the fishing rights, he said. Vasan categorically stated that the TMC will contest the 2016 Assembly elections by only forging alliance. No political party has come forward to contest the polls on its own, and as such TMC will forge a formidable alliance, which will be acceptable to the masses. The alliance will be finalised at the time of elections. Referring to the complaints of non-implementation of many of the projects announced by the Chief Minister in the Assembly under Rule 110, Vasan said that people are closely watching the moves and the State Government was duty bound to fulfil its promises.
