Thirty Indian nationals claiming to be recruited by an Indian construction company in Sri Lanka are urging the Sri Lankan government to assist them in returning to their home country.
The Indian nationals allege they were brought to Sri Lanka on the assurances of the construction company, that the group would be paid for work done with all facilities provided. However, they alleged that although the company had provided them accomodation they were not provided with food or water.
They further allege that the company had not paid their wages for over two months. The group were discovered by local villagers in Galewala, Katupotha area.
