Indictments were served on former Senior Police DIG Anura Senanayake over the killing of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen today (Jun 27).
The papers were handed over to the accused before the Colombo High Court this morning. Accordingly, the case has been fixed for hearing on October 23.
Mr. Senanayake has been accused of attempting to harbour the suspects involved in the killing of the ruggerite by concealing evidence on the incident
Meanwhile, High Court judge Vikum Kaluarachchi had released the suspect on two surety bails of Rs 2 million over the charges which were filed against him.
DIG Senanayake was arrested over the case in 2016 before being released on a cash bail of one million rupees with three sureties of Rs.5 million each by the High Court, an year later.
