IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing airline, has announced Colombo as its eighth international and 49th overall destination on its 6E network, TradeArabia News Service reported.
The new schedule will see non-stop connections between Colombo to Chennai and Bengaluru, effective January 20, 2018. Booking has been opened with an attractive starting fare of Rs3,599/$55.8 (ex-Chennai) and Rs5,999/$93 (ex-Bengaluru).
. These new flights will further consolidate IndiGo’s position as the fastest growing airline in India with 149 Airbus A320 and three ATR aircraft strong fleet, operating over 1,000 daily flights, connecting 49 destinations.
Speaking on the launch, Aditya Ghosh, president and whole time director, IndiGo, was quoted as saying : “As one of the most sought after destinations in South Asia, Colombo draws visitors from across the globe for its fine blend of tradition and culture. A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
