A person who had duped people into giving money by promising to provide employment in Japan was arrested near the Galle Face roundabout this afternoon.
Police officers who were on traffic duty had taken the suspect into custody with six passports and six Japanese visas belonging to other individuals, police said. Further, a bank passbook, two pen drives, and a tablet PC were also seized from the possession of the suspect.
Investigations have revealed that the Kurunegala Special Crimes Investigation Unit had received several complaints on the suspect who had defrauded money from several people.
The suspect has been identified as a resident of Hunupitiya, Wattala.
