Eight suspects including one person alleged to be directly linked to notorious drug dealer and underworld figure 'Makandure Madhush' have been arrested along with weapons and drugs during a raid conducted yesterday (21).
Police Headquarters stated that the suspects were arrested from Dagonna in Negombo during a raid conducted jointly by the Special Task Force (STF) and the Organized Crimes Prevention Division. The eight persons, including the individual directly linked to Madhush were apprehended along with a range of weapons, heroin and kerala ganja in their possession.
Among the items allegedly recovered from the suspects were a 9mm pistol along with a magazine and six live bullets, a live hand grenade, six live rounds of T56 ammunition, a sword, a manna kinfe, 10.15 grams of heroin and 940 grams of kerala ganja.
The suspects, whose ages range from 19 to 48 years, are due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court today (22).
Further investigations are being conducted by the Organized Crimes Prevention Division.
