An abandoned infant believed to be eight days old was rescued by Mirigama police along with officials of the Children and Women Bureau yesterday (Nov 22).
According to the police, the child was found at a place of worship in Divlupitiya, Mirigama.
The infant who received treatment at the Mirigama hospital has been transferred to the Gampaha hospital.
Police are conducting investigations to find the parents of the child.
