An inmate at Welikada Prison has tested postive for COVID-19, Director General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe stated.
The inmate had been transferred from the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Centre to Welikada Prison on June 27.
The DG of Health Services stated that efforts have been taken to trace close contacts of the patient and to place them in quarantine. Meanwhile, prison officers and inmates at the Welikada Prison will also be subjected to PCR tests, he added.
