The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Airavat arrived at the port of Colombo today (20th January 2020) and she was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.
Meanwhile, the Commanding Officer of the ship, Commander Sunil Sankar and a group of Indian officers met the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. They held a cordial discussion on several matters of bilateral importance. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the significance of this occasion.
During their stay in the country, the crew of the ship is expected to take part in several programmes. INS Airavat is scheduled to leave the island on 22nd January.
