The Iranamadu tank in the Kilinochchi district has dried up considerably causing much hardships to farmers in the area.
The recent drought according to reports has affected the Iranamadu tank in the North very badly. The tank is also the biggest tank in the North and more than 10,000 farming communities are said to be affected.
The water level is reported to be at just 5 feet and operations are underway by farmers to use what little water remains for farming. Farmers were captured in these images by our correspondent as they separated the muddy water at the bottom of the tank and tried to salvage some water for farming.
