A leader of an Islamic organisation has been arrested today (Aug 25) for allegedly abetting three proscribed groups in the country.
Police said the suspect, 60-year old Rasheed Akbar is believed to have delivered Islamic sermons by visiting homes.
He had been apprehended by the Colombo Crimes Division in Mawanella.
The Department of National Zoological Gardens is readying enclosures to quarantine two large tortoises that were found stranded 15 kilometers westwards off Pitipana Negombo, today.
