An Islandwide power failure has been reported following a breakdown at the Kerawalapitiya power station, an official at the Power Ministry said.
Mr Sulakshana Jayawardena said it was an unusual situation and they were looking into the reasons.
Several functions where ministers were assuming duties were affected as a result of the blackout.
