An Italian national has drowned off the coast of Nilaveli. Police said the 71-year-old victim had been swimming in the sea with his wife near their hotel when he was allegedly swept out to sea. The incident had occurred on Wednesday (29).
The body was later recovered and brought to Trincomalee Hospital. A post-mortem examination was due to be held yesterday.
