The Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) staged a protest today in front of the University Grants Commission (UGC) demanding the government to fill the student vacancies in the state universities for the academic year of 2015.
The collective body of state universities noted that at least two thousand vacancies are remained in State Universities for the enrollment of undergraduates. Pointing out that in some of the universities have started their academic year already, it urged the government to take immediate steps to fill those vacancies with qualified students without further delay.
The IUSF reiterated as one of the demand that the rate of enrollment to state universities should be increased by ten percentage as State Minister of Higher Education, Mohan Lal Grero earlier agreed during a talks with the representatives of Student/Undergraduate Unions of the Universities.
Heavy traffic was reported in surrounding lanes of Town hall area due to the protest march towards UGC.
