The Jaffna district court today dismissed a case filed against fixing 5G smart poles within the Jaffna Municipal Council premises saying the case was filed with 'ulterior motives".
The case was filed by a local member of a local Tamil nationalist party urging the court to ban fixing of the new telecom technology, known as 5G- fifth generation technology by a local telecom service provider in the city citing health concerns. The 5G technology is currently at the testing phases as leading telecom providers experimenting with the new technology to reduce network traffic.
M.A. Sumanthiran PC who represented the Jaffna Municipal Council when the case was taken up today told the Court that this case was filed with political reasons and other ulterior motives.
