The Japanese Prime Minister's Special Advisor, Dr Hiroto Izumi, is expected to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe between June 20 - 22.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Japan has requested the Prime Minister to urge the visiting state official to revise Japan's travel advisory imposed on Sri Lanka.
The Japanese Foreign Affairs Ministry had issued a travel advisory on April 26 after the deadly Easter Sunday bombings shook Sri Lanka. This travel advisory stands raised at Level 2 which is to avoid non-essential and non-urgent travel to the island.
Due to this reason, "main Japanese tour operators have suspended their tours to Sri Lanka", Ambassador Dammika Ganganath Disanayake said in a letter to the Prime Minister.
Accordingly, he urged that the request to revise the travel advisory be put forward before the visting Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister in a bid to uplift tourist arrivals in the country.
At present, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, China, India, UK, France, Belgium, and Netherlands have now revised their travel advisories on Sri Lanka, Mr. Disanayake said.
