A team of Japanese experts landed in Sri Lanka yesterday and have begun their initial inspection of the Meethotamulla garbage dumpsite.
According to local media reports, the team is to conduct a thorough inspection and evaluation of the Meethotamulla dumpsite and provide solutions to Sri Lanka’s garbage dumping problem.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised assistance when news of the Meethotamulla tragedy reached him while Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was on an official visit to Japan.
