Newly-appointed Justice Ministry Secretary Jayanthi Wijethunga assumed office this morning, the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms said today (Jul 29).
Ms. Wijetunga had previously served as the secretary to the State Minister of Power and Energy, secretary to the State Minister of Higher Education, and also the General Secretary of the Western Provincial Council.
She is a graduate of the Colombo University and a Special Grade member of the Sri Lanka Administration Service.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
