The names of 50,000 graduates who are eligible for job placements were made public today.

This is following President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s orders to expedite the President’s programme to provide jobs for 50,000 graduates and 100,000 persons from low income backgrounds in a number of sectors in the country.
Instructions have also been received to immediately commence work, with letters to selected candidates sent today, and all those selected will have to report to duty on September 1 to the nearest Divisional Secretariat. Apart from the graduates, the 100,000 youth selected will commence work on September 1.
In February this year applications were called from unemployed graduates and unskilled youth from low income families to provide job opportunities in the fields of masonry, carpentry, agriculture, fisheries, forest conservation in their residential areas with a monthly salary of Rs. 35,000.
