Joint Cabinet Memorandum on Hambantota Port approved

Cabinet has approved a proposal to enter into a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the China Merchants Port Holdings to develop the Hambantota Port.

The Cabinet proposal in this regard was presented jointly by Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama and Minister of Special Assignments, Sarath Amunugama. 

Cabinet also authorized to enter into a framework agreement with the said investor, based upon the final decision made at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management (CCEM),
