Two persons were arrested and approximately 6000 plants were destroyed when a ganja plantation that had been secretly operated next to a chili cultivation was raided by the officers of the Suriyawewa Police on Saturday (12).
The raid was carried out on a tip-off by officers of the intelligence unit of the Hambantota Navy camp.
The suspects, aged 24 and 30 and residents of Balaharuwa area in Tanamalwila, have been handed over to the Tanamalwila Police for legal proceedings.
