The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has said that it is the government’s responsibility to carry out an investigation in order to take action against the instigators of today’s tragedy.
"We strongly condemn today’s cowardly and brutal attacks which targeted civilians", the JVP said in a press release. Further, the JVP requested the public to refrain from engaging in acts which could aggravate the present situation.
“We request all Sri Lankans to refrain from using today’s series of incidents in order to engage in acts of racism,” the statement read.
The JVP expressed their condolences towards the victims and the families of today’s tragedy.
