JVP leader's name proposed for Chief Opposition Whip
JVP Leader and Colombo District MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake's name has been proposed for the post of Chief Opposition Whip. However, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is yet to officially make any announcement on the matter. Earlier on the Speaker named TNA Parliamentary Group Leader R. Sampanthan as the Leader of the Opposition. MP Lakshman Kiriella was recently elected as the Leader of the House, Gayantha Karunathilaka was elected Chief Government Whip, and MP S. Adaikalanathan was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee.
