The JVP today (Dec 11) has reiterated its stance to abstain from pledging its support to Ranil Wickremesinghe when the proposal to prove his majority is forwarded during tomorrow´s Parliamentary session, JVP MP Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at a media briefing.
However, UNP MP Harshana Rajakaruna had said the UNF has the support of 117 MPs excluding the JVP thereby commanding the majority in the House.
Tomorrow's Parliament session is set to commence at 1 pm during which the proposal to prove the majority of the UNP leader would be tabled before Parliament. The UNP expects (103 UNF and 14 TNA) of the 225 MPs in Parliament to support Mr. Wickremesinghe.
