JVP leader Anura Dissanayaka has written to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya requesting him to summon Parliament before February 10 (when the Local Government elections are set to take place), in order to debate the Bond Commission report as well as the report of Large Scale Corruption Commission.
In the letter, the JVP leader who is also the Chief Opposition Whip said that President Maithripala Sirisena too has publicly voiced the need for an early debate on the two commission report.
“While there is an election pending, it is important that the contents are discusused in Parliament prior to the poll date so that people are informed about the contents of the report,” Mr.Dissanayaka said in the letter.
Parliament is expected to meet on February 20 and 21 to debate the two reports.
