The no-confidence motion filed by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) against the government is set to be taken up for debate in Parliament today (Jul 10).
JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the objective of his party is to defeat the government through the motion and then conduct a general election.
Meanwhile, the joint opposition has also said that they would support the no confidence motion irrespective of who proposes it in Parliament.
On the contrary, non-cabinet minister Ajith Perera said the allegations levelled against the government were false and they expect to complete their full term of five years.
The motion will be debated and taken up for a vote tomorrow evening.
