Minister Kabir Hashim has resigned from his post as General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP).
The Minister's letter of resignation is due to be handed over to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe later today.
The resignation comes after the UNP leadership pledged to carry out party reforms immediately after the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against the PM.
A new leadership group is due to be appointed to the party as part of these efforts.
