A close associate of underworld criminal 'Angoda Lokka', identified as 'Kaduwela Babee' was arrested in Kaduwela yesterday (Mar 19) over the possession of narcotics.
Special Task Force (STF) personnel who carried out the arrest, had seized 650 grams of heroin, 1.1 kilograms of kerala cannabis and a scale used to weigh narcotic substances.
The suspect, I.C.Samaratunga alias 'Kaduwela Babee', has been identified as a relative of organised criminal 'Prince Kolom' and a close associate of 'Angoda Lokka'. He is a resident of Gnanawimala Mawathe, Kaduwela.
Meanwhile, four gems and a small Buddha statue suspected to be of archaeological value was seized from an individual identified as Sampath Ratnasiri, a resident of Weliwita. Details pertaining to this individual had surfaced during a questioning carried out on 'Kaduwela Babee'.
Both suspects have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
