Kandy Mayor resigns
Kandy Mayor Mahen Ratwatte resigned yesterday, to contest for the post of Basnayake Nilame of the Kandy Vishnu Devalaya, local media reported.
He informed the SLFP Secretary and the Municipal Commissioner of his resignation.
The election for the Basnayake Nilame of Vishnu Devalaya will be held on December 1. The post fell vacant following the passing of the former Basnayake Nilame Mohan Panabokke.
